SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Mississippi State completed the first round of stroke play at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Friday. After the first 18 holes, State is tied for 26th at 13-over par (301).
Julia Lopez Ramirez led the Bulldogs throughout the first round of play from Greystone. Lopez Ramirez rolled in two birdies throughout the day to card 1-over par (73) to tie for 51st.
For State, Hannah Levi, Abbey Daniel, Izzy Pellot and Surapa Janthamunee are all tied at 4-over par (76) after the opening round of play. Izzy Pellot was able to sink one of the three lone eagles on the day from the stacked field on the second hole.
State will return to the course for the second round of play on Saturday. Pairings will be made at a later time. The NCAA Championships consist of four total stroke play rounds, during which the field is reduced to 15 teams after the third round. Subsequently, the remaining eight teams proceed to the match play stage after the fourth round. The quarterfinals and semifinals of match play take place on Tuesday, while the final is scheduled for Wednesday.
Mississippi State will tee off round two at 8:32 a.m. CT and will be paired with Texas A&M and South Carolina.
