SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.– Ole Miss women’s golf finished the opening round of the NCAA Championships on Friday. The Rebels ended with a score of 300 (+12) and in 25th place.
Ole Miss started their day early in the afternoon. The Rebels tallied 10 birdies at Grayhawk Golf Club, with five coming from Andrea Lignell.
However, it was Natacha Hosted Husted who led the Rebels, shooting an even round one of 72 (E). The sophomore sunk three birdies in her first NCAA Championship appearance. The Copenhagen, Denmark, native finished strong, tacking on one of her three birdies in the final hole of the day.
Lignell wrapped up her round a tick behind her teammate Husted, stroking a 74 (+2). Lignell started strong with four birdies on her front nine. The senior added another birdie late on Hole 7.
Freshman Nicole Gal opened the week, hitting a 76 (+4) in her first NCAA Championship appearance. Once Gal settled down, she shot par in the back nine and grabbed a birdie too.
Chiara Tamburlini and Ellen Hume rounded out the Rebel lineup. Hume shot a 78 (+6), and Tamburlini shot a 79 (+7) in the first round.
Ole Miss returns to action tomorrow morning for round two from Grayhawk Golf Club. Tee times for the Rebels are currently set to start at 10 a.m. CT.
