SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The second round of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship is in the books and the Arizona Wildcats sit in 13th place out of 30 teams. The second round team score of 288 (Even) gives Arizona a team total of 580 (+4).
We were led by Carolina Melgrati and Lilas Pinthier today. Lilas had a stellar round today, coming back from her struggles yesterday. That just shows that she has so much heart and we are excited for tomorrow.”
Leading the way on Saturday were sophomores Lisas Pinthier and Carolina Melgrati, who both fired rounds of 1-under 71.
For Pinthier, it was a strong rally after a difficult first round. She was steady throughout the day, carding two birdies and just one bogey on the way to her fifth round of 71 or better in her last eight.
Melgrati tallied four birdies and three bogeys on her round, her fifth round in the last eight at Even par or better.
Freshman Nena Wongthanavimok followed her opening round 69 with a 1-over par 73 in round two. She registered par on her first 13 holes of the day. She is 2-under par for the tournament and tied for 24th.
Arizona will begin its third round at 8:00 a.m. off No. 1 while playing alongside LSU and Duke.
