SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Ole Miss women’s golf wrapped up Day Two of the NCAA Championships tied for 20th place, with a two-day score of 588 (+12) on the week. The Rebels shot five more birdies, including 11 in a stellar back nine.

The team’s 16 birdies were tied the ninth most out of the 30 teams in Scottsdale. The 11 birdies in the back nine was tied with three teams for the third most among the competitive teams. Ole Miss shot three-under par overall in the back nine.

“The girls played with a lot of fight today. We got a lot of great shots but unfortunately the putts weren’t falling for us today. I feel that we are close to putting together a really great round. We will give it our all tomorrow,” said Coach Kory Henkes.

At the conclusion of Wednesday’s final round of stroke play, the top 15 teams and top nine individuals from a non-advancing team will play an additional round of stroke play. The Rebels are currently four strokes back of 15th place.

Cruising through round two for a Rebel best score of 70 (-2) was Andrea Lignell, putting her at par through two days in Scottsdale. The senior shot par on 14 of 18 holes while also knocking in 3 birdies. Lignell’s first two birdies came back-to-back to start the back nine. Her only hole above par came on the very first one. Heading into the third round, the Gothburg, Sweden, native is sitting tied for 38th place among 150 individuals. She climbed up 28 spots from Friday.

Despite an uncharacteristic round one, Chiara Tamburlini turned it around as the second Rebel to a shoot under-par in the round. She finished the second round shooting a 71 (-1) for an overall total of 150 (+6). Tamburlini, like the rest of the Rebels, found her groove in the back nine for three of her four birdies. All three would come between Hole 11 and Hole 14. Tamburlini’s efforts vaulted her into a tie at 107th place, going into the final round before the first cutoff.

Coming off an even-par round, Natacha Host Husted stayed consistent with a score of 73 (+1) and two birdies. Hosted’s score through two rounds of 145 (+1) is good enough to be in the top-50.

Elle Johnson stepped in for Ellen Hume and did not disappoint. She was the first Rebel to hit for a birdie on Hole One. Overall, she tied Tamburlini with four total birdies, two in the front nine and two in the back…
