Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing Members Named to CSC Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –  A total of five student-athletes spanning across Alabama women’s golf, gymnastics and rowing programs were named to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District At-Large Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Luisa Blanco, Lily Hudson and Mati Waligora from gymnastics, Benedetta Moresco from women’s golf and Gianna Rucki from rowing made up the Crimson Tide’s All-District honorees.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team women’s Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 22.

To be nominated for the CSC Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and must at least be a sophomore academically and athletically.

THE CRIMSON TIDE NOMINEES

  • All five nominees hold above a 3.79 GPA as Benedetto Moresco (golf) and Mati Waligora (gymnastics) lead the group with perfect 4.00 GPAs. Moresco is pursuing a degree in food and nutrition, while Waligora is studying kinesiology.
  • Gianna Rucki (rowing) graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree this spring as part of UA’s advanced master’s program, earning a 3.99 GPA with a bachelor’s in operations management and a 3.8 GPA with a master’s in operations management
  • Gymnast Luisa Blanco holds a 3.79 GPA en route to her political science degree. Blanco is also minoring in social work.
  • Lily Hudson (gymnastics) holds a 3.89 GPA while pursuing her kinesiology degree
  • This season, Blanco finished second at the NCAA Championships with a 9.950 on the uneven bars, earning her All-America honors after also being named to the All-SEC Team for the third-straight year
  • This season, Hudson competed in the all-around in every meet, contributing a team-best total of 52 routines, while earning a 9.900-or-higher in nine of her 13 floor exercise routines
  • Team captain, Moresco, competed in all 11 events for the Crimson Tide, finishing second on the team in stroke average (73.19) and average vs. par (+1.29)
  • Rucki was named team captain for the second consecutive year and earned All-Big 12 accolades after finishing her fourth season competing in the program’s top boat, First Varsity 8+
  • Waligora competed in 37 routines this year, holding a spot in the lineup for all 13 meets on the uneven bars and floor exercise. Waligora’s 9.900 score on the uneven bars against LSU and at the SEC Championships was a season-best…
