Endicott Receives Honorable Mention All-American Recognition

STARKVILLE – Garrett Endicott has received Honorable Mention recognition on the NCAA Division I PING All-America Teams.

The Golf Coaches Association of America selects three All-America teams comprised of 10 golfers each, and ties are not broken. An additional 34 golfers earned honorable mention status. Endicott is the first Bulldog to land on any of the teams since Alex Rocha was a first team selection in 2000. Rocha was also an honorable mention selection in 1999.

“I am so proud of Garrett and everything he accomplished this season,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “He had a great season this year and deserves this honor. Garrett is a hard worker who played a vital role in our team’s success. I am just so happy for him.”

Endicott started all 12 events as a freshman and led the team in stroke average (71.22) while posting the lowest 18-hole (64) and 54-hole (198) totals on the squad. He was twice named SEC Freshman of the Week and earned Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

The San Antonio, Texas, native recorded eight top-20 finishes this season, including four top-10 results. He shot par or better in 23 of his 36 rounds, which ranked third in MSU single-season history.

Endicott tied for 11th at the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional, helping the Bulldogs claim their first regional championship in program history. At the SEC Championships, he shot his eighth round in the 60s on his way to a top-20 placement.

Mississippi State has now seen five golfers earn seven All-American honors. In addition to Rocha’s honors, Michael Connell earned second team and third team recognition in 1997 and 1998. Graham Davidson was a Second Team All-American in 1996, and Stacey Richburg took home State’s first honor as an honorable mention selection in 1984.
