DURHAM – Coming off a standout collegiate career with the Duke women’s golf program, recent graduate Erica Shepherd will make her professional debut this week on the Epson Tour. She will compete in the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, which will be contested at the Battle Creek Country Club in Battle Creek, Mich., June 9-11.
Shepherd received a sponsor invite to compete in the championship and will tee off beginning at 7:52 a.m., off hole No. 10 on Friday along with Nikita Arjun and Chanelle Avaricio.
A two-time All-America and three-time All-ACC selection, Shepherd collected a 73.12 stroke average over four seasons with the Blue Devils. She registered one victory, six top-5, 10 top-10 and 16 top-20 finishes in 34 career tournaments. Shepherd posted 39 rounds of even or under par and 10 rounds in the 60s. She turned in three top-15 finishes at the NCAA Regionals, becoming just the 11th Duke golfers to collect three or more top-15 finishes in regional action.
Shepherd is no stranger to professional events as she has competed in eight events over a span from 2016-22. She has appeared in two previous Epson Tour events – 2022 at the Carolina Golf Classic (T45) and the 2021 Donald Ross Classic (T61). Shepherd made the cut in six of the eight professional events as an amateur.
