CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s golfers Pietro Bovari, George Duangmanee and Bryan Lee have been named to the 2023 Men’s Golf All-ACC Academic Team today (June 20). The trio of players were recognized for their on-course and in-classroom success. It marks the third consecutive year Bovari and Duangmanee have been honored.
Bovari, a senior from Milano, Italy, placed 58th at NCAA Championships. He opened the season by shooting a career-best -15, 201 to assist UVA to victory at Streamsong Invitational with third-place finish. The Cavaliers set their tournament scoring record at that event, shooting -56. 808.
Duangmanee, a junior from Fairfax, Va., had a pair of top-10 finishes including a seventh-place showing at the Hamptons Intercollegiate to help the Cavaliers to that tournament win. He was 10th at the season-opening Streamsong Invitational that helped contribute to UVA’s all-time best tournament scoring mark.
Lee, a freshman from Fairfax, Va., rebounded from a mid-season injury to finish 22nd at the NCAA Championships, the third-highest finishing freshman in the field. He was the runner-up at the Wake Forest Invitational in his best individual finish. He finished third on the team with a 71.79 stroke average.
All three players were in the Cavaliers NCAA Championships lineup to help UVA to its best postseason finish. The Cavaliers finished seventh in stroke play to advance to the match play quarterfinals for the first time.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. The student-athlete must have participated in at least 50% of their team’s contests.
