Gooding, Miller, Named WGCA All-American Scholars


BOULDER – University of Colorado women’s golfers Lauren Gooding and Morgan Miller have been named to the 2022-23 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team the organization announced on Thursday.
               
The WGCA All-American Scholar honor is the first for both Gooding and Miller.
               
Gooding, a rising junior from London, ranked third on the team with a 76.41 stroke average as sophomore last season. She had the Buffaloes’ low round in 2022-23, shooting a 5-under, 67, at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. Gooding, who also earned a spot on the At-Large Academic All-District Team presented by College Sports Communicators, is a Strategic Communication major with a 3.59 GPA.
               
Miller, a native of Cedar Park, Texas, had a 75.79 stroke average as a true freshman this past season ranking second on the team. She had a team-best nine rounds of even-par or better including a career-best 3-under, 69, in the first round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. A Strategic Communication major, Miller has set a great academic foundation with a 3.75 GPA through her freshman year.
               
The Buffaloes’ duo is among 1,401 women’s collegiate golfers from 378 programs recognized for their high-level academic achievements. To be named a WGCA All-American Scholar, a student-athlete needs to have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the season and have participated in at least 50 percent of the school’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
