PINEHURST, N.C. – The round of 32 of match play opened Thursday at the North & South Women’s Amateur with Duke women’s golf graduate student Emma McMyler moving on to the round of 16 at Pinehurst No. 2.
A product of San Antonio, Texas, McMyler registered a 4&3 victory over No. 22 seed Camille Boyd and will next face No. 6 seed Casey Weidenfield on Friday beginning at 7:56 a.m.
After opening the match tied through four holes, McMyler won hole No. 5 and then went ahead 2UP with a win on hole No. 8. McMyler, who is seeded No. 11, then won hole No. 12 and closed the match with a birdie on No. 15.
Duke freshman Katie Li dropped her match, 2&1, to Madelyn Gamble and senior Anne Chen fell, 1UP, to Virginie Ding to see their run come to an end.
The round of 16 and quarterfinals will be played on Friday.
A total of five Blue Devils have won the North & South Women’s Amateur – Gina Kim (2021), Brittany Lang (2003), Candy Hannemann (2000), Beth Bauer (1998, 1999) and Stephanie Sparks (1992).
