The fourth major championship of the year is here with the next stop on the Ladies European Tour (LET) being The Amundi Evian Championship.
It is the second visit to Evian Resort for the LET this year, after it also hosted the Jabra Ladies Open in May.
Before the tournament gets underway, here are a few talking points to look out for…
Start of co-sanctioned stretch
The Amundi Evian Championship marks the start of a four-week co-sanctioned stretch of tournaments on the LET.
It kicks off with the fourth major of the year before the Tour heads to the FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open.
Next up is the final major of the year with the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath before the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland.
World’s best in town
There is a field of 132 players from 29 nations teeing it up this week for a total prize purse of USD $6,500,000 with a winner’s check of $1,000,000.
It is a stellar field with all of the top 10 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings in attendance and 47 of the world’s top 50.
Grant back at scene of success
It was only a few months ago when Linn Grant was victorious at Evian Resort Golf Club as she won the Jabra Ladies Open by two shots.
That title was the fifth on the LET for the 2022 Race to Costa del Sol champion and she followed it up by winning for the first time on the LPGA Tour a couple of weeks ago.
After a week at home, the Swedish is star is feeling refreshed and hoping to go better than her T8 result here last year.
Henderson returns as defending champion
Last year Brooke Henderson secured a one-shot victory to win by one shot at Evian Resort Golf Club and she is back and hoping for more success.
The Canadian has already triumphed in 2023 winning the LPGA Tour season-opener – the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and Henderson is hoping to become the first player to defend the major title at Evian.
Major points on offer
With it being major week, there are more points on offer in the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol and the 2023 Solheim Cup points list.
In a usual LET event, the winner receives 500 points to the Race to Costa del Sol whereas this week the winner would receive 875 points.
While for the Solheim Cup, in a usual LET event in 2023 the winner receives 40 points but this week they would receive 100 points meaning there’s more to play for.
