East Lansing, Mich. – Highlighted by the Folds of Honor Collegiate to open the year, Michigan State men’s golf head coach Casey Lubahn announced the team’s schedule for the 2023-24 academic year.
The Spartans will host the Folds of Honor Collegiate for the second-straight year at American Dunes Golf Course in Grand Haven, Mich. to open the season from Monday, Sept. 4 to Wednesday, Sept. 6.
That is one of five events during the fall campaign, which runs through mid-October. Following a break over the holidays, the Spartans play six events during the spring season, starting in early February, and begin postseason play in late April.
“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season and to the challenging schedule this team will face,” Lubahn said. “Getting the chance to host the Folds of Honor early in the schedule is very important for us and for American Dunes. It’s a great even that honors military members who have fallen or been hurt during their service and we had a great experience being part of that important event last year.
“Coming off an NCAA Regional appearance last year, we’ve got a talented group coming back and they will be tested by playing against some of the best teams in the country and at some challenging courses. We’re excited for the opportunity to test ourselves.”
Following the Folds of Honor, the Spartans will play in the Fighting Illini Invite (Sept. 15-17) before closing out the month at the Windon Memorial Classic (Sept. 25-26), hosted by Northwestern at Northshore Country Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
The final two events of the fall are the Fighting Irish Classic at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. (Oct. 1-2) and the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Michigan State at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. (Oct. 15-16).
The Spartans will play two events in February 2024, starting with the Spartan/Wildcat Duel at Mountain Lake Golf Club in Lake Wales, Fla. (Feb. 10) and then The Invitational at the Ford, hosted by Georgia Southern at The Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, Ga.
Michigan State hosts the Colleton River Collegiate on the Nicklaus Course at the Colleton River Club in South Carolina from March 4-5, then plays in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island in Georgia from March 11-12.
The final two events of the regular season are the Hoosier Collegiate (April 6-7) and…
