DURHAM – The 2023-24 edition of Duke women’s golf will be a special one as the Blue Devils’ compete in the 50th overall season in Durham, while head coach Dan Brooks embarks on his 40th season leading Duke women’s golf.
One of the winningest programs in NCAA history, the Blue Devils have risen to new heights under the direction of Brooks, winning an NCAA-record seven NCAA Championships, 21 ACC Championships and a NCAA-record 141 team wins.
At least one Duke golfer has been tabbed a first, second, third or honorable mention All-American each year since the 1991-92 season. A Duke golfer has earned National Player of the Year accolades a total of 12 times, while four have won the NCAA Individual Championship, 21 have won ACC Individual titles and three have won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
Over the 49 seasons of women’s golf at Duke, the Blue Devils have won seven NCAA Championships, 22 ACC Championships, registered 151 team wins and 115 individual victories under the direction of head coaches Jane Lloyd, Ron Schmid and Brooks.
Brooks and the Blue Devils are primed for another solid season in 2023-24 with the return of four starters – Phoebe Brinker, Anne Chen, Andie Smith and Rylie Heflin – along with the addition of two of the top amateur golfers in the nation – Emma McMyler and Katie Li. Both McMyler and Li have already turned in impressive wins over the summer with victories at the Women’s Southern Amateur Championship and the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic, respectively.
The 2023-24 schedule Brooks has compiled will once again challenge the Blue Devils against the top teams nationally.
The Blue Devils open the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will be contested at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., Sept. 11-13. The event welcomes the top teams in the nation with Baylor, Duke, Florida State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Oregon, San Jose State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia and Wake Forest comprising the field.
Next up for Duke will be the Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 2-3 in Chicago, Ill., at the Glen View Club. It marks the seventh straight year the Blue Devils have competed in the tournament hosted by Northwestern.
