Vanderbilt Men's Golf | Dores Well Represented at U.S. Amateur

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More than half the individuals on the 2023-24 Vanderbilt men’s golf roster will be in the field this week when play begins at the 123rd U.S. Amateur Championship on Monday.

Gordon Sargent (currently No. 1), Cole Sherwood (No. 12), William Moll (No. 24) and Matthew Riedel (No. 41) earned automatic exemptions into the tournament based on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Jackson Van Paris gained entry into the event after winning the sectional qualifying tournament held at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, North Carolina, July 10 with a 15-under-par 129 36-hole score highlighted by rounds of 65 and 64. Chase Nevins recorded scores of 67 and 70 for a 5-under-par 137 total on July 6 at the sectional qualifying event at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

A total of 312 competitors will be in the field for the championship at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. There will be 18 holes of stroke play on both Monday and Tuesday, after which 64 individuals will advance to match play beginning on Wednesday. The 36-hole final is scheduled for Sunday.

Coverage will be available on both GOLF Channel and Peacock beginning with Wednesday’s Round of 64 matches, and NBC will air coverage of both the semifinals and finals the last two days of the tournament.
