Wells, Marcoux and Jones Named to Preseason All-Big Ten Golfers to Watch List

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The conference has recognized three Scarlet Knights from the men’s golf team as golfers to watch for the upcoming season.

On Tuesday afternoon, graduate student Luke Wells, grad Xavier Marcoux, and junior Weston Jones were named to the 2023-24 Big Ten Men’s Golfers to Watch List.

The trio of Scarlet Knights join a list of 41 golfers across the conference to be given preseason accolades. 

Wells, the Springfield Ohio native will be a three-time captain this season since tranferring RU back in 2021. He was named a Big Ten Player to Watch for the second-straight season and is a two-time PING All-Region Team Selection.

Marcoux, the Concord, Mass. native is also a three-time captain this season and was named to the watch list for two years in a row. Marcoux joins Wells as a two-time PING All-Region Team Selection and won Big Ten Golfer of the Week last fall.

Jones, the Sudberry, Mass native returns for his third season at RU after starting in every event as a Scarlet Knight (48 career rounds). Some highlights for Jones include setting the program record for the lowest scoring average by a freshman (73.24), being named 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur Participant, and advancing to the 2021 U.S. Open Sectional qualifying round.
