Alabama Women’s Golf Opens the 2023-24 Season at Boilermaker Classic


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s golf team will begin the 2023-24 season Monday morning at the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue University. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,299-yard Kampen-Cosler Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

The teams will compete in a five-count-four, stroke-play format, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT Monday morning.

The Lineup

  • The Crimson Tide’s lineup is highlighted by two returning starters, including US Women’s Open Amateur qualifier Sarah Edwards who led UA in overall stroke average (73.03), average vs par (+1.14), rounds in the 60s (5), rounds of par or better (13) and top-20 finishes (6) for the 2022-23 season
  • Taylor Kehoe also returns to the field after finishing the season as the third-leading returner in overall stroke average (75.43) and rounds of par or better (5)
  • Freshmen Kaitlyn Schroeder and Harriet Lockley along with transfer Elina Sinz will be making their Crimson Tide debut this week
  • Illinois transfer Mattie Frick will also be competing in the event as an individual
  • The Tide opens the season receiving votes in the Preseason Mizzuno WGCA Coaches Top-25 Poll

Tournament Preview

  • The 54-hole stroke play tournament will take place Monday, Sept. 4 and Tuesday, Sept. 5 on the par 72, 6,299-yard Kampen-Cosler Course in West Lafeyette, Ind.
  • In addition to Alabama, the 15-team field features Ball State, Charlotte, Georgia Southern, Indiana, James Madison, Long Beach State, Louisville, Mercer, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Old Dominion, Purdue, Rutgers and Western Kentucky
