Badgers in ninth after first day of Marquette Intercollegiate


ERIN, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s golf has completed the first round of the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills, placing ninth at 13-over. 

Jacob Beckman leads the Badgers after the first 18 holes at two-over par. 

Sunday, September 3

Round 1

Wisconsin started the Intercollegiate by carding a 301 (+13) to end the first day of play in ninth place. 

Beckman led the way for UW, shooting a two-over 74 with two birdies. Big Ten Golfer to Watch, Cameron Huss, trailed closely with a three-over 75.

Spencer Turtz and Coalter Smith each shot a a four-over 76. Smith, another Badger garnering Big Ten Golfer honors, led the team with three birdies. Rounding out the lineup, Blake Wisdom carded a five-over 77 in his first round as a Badger.  

Carter Pitcairn, McCord Grice, James Boustead and Daniel Aas each competed for Wisconsin as individuals. Pitcairn led the pack of individuals with a seven-over 79. Grice tallied a nine-over 81, while freshman Boustead shot a 10-over 82 in his collegiate debut and Aas carded a 13-over 85.
