Clemson Improves to Seventh at Visit Knoxville Collegiate – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Ten Programs Set APR Records; Fourteen Earn Perfect Single-Year Scores – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC-The Clemson golf team improved by five shots and one place in the standing during the second round of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tennessee.   The Tigers are  seventh place in the 14-team national field entering Sunday’s final round.on the par 70 course that measures 7,280 yards.

Host school Tennessee has the team lead by 12 shots with a score of 22-under-par 538, while Mississippi State is second at 550, 10-under par.    Mississippi is third at 554 and East Tennessee State stands in fourth at 556.  North Florida is fifth at 565, Virginia Tech is sixth at 571 and Clemson is seventh at 573, 13 over par.  Clemson had a 289 team score on Friday and improved to 284 on Saturday,

Clemson was led on Saturday by Kian Rose and true freshman Will Baker.  Both players had rounds of even—par 70.   Rose had four birdies on the front nine when he shot a three under par 32.  Baker had three birdies and three bogeys in shooting even par in just his second career round.

Junior Andrew Swanson shot a one over par 71 on Saturday.  He had three birdies and a pair of double bogeys and combined with his opening round 69m is Clemson’s top player through 36 holes with a 140 total and 19th place standing.    Rose stands in 25th place with a 142 total and Baker is 36th with a 145 aggregate.

Jonathan Nielsen has been a counter in both rounds with a pair of 73s.  His 146 total is good enough for 42nd place.    Thomas Higgins has had rounds of 76 and 75 for a 151 total.
