MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. – Brandon Robison completed the final round of the Gopher Invitational shooting an even par 71 that included a 1-under 34 on the front nine for the University of Utah men’s golf team, which finished its first tournament of the 2023-24 season at the Windsong Farm Golf Club on Monday.
Robison began the last round with a bogey on the 10th, but quickly steadied himself with three straight pars before recording his first birdie on the 14th. Once Robison made the turn on to the front nine, he posted two more birdies and stayed in the red for the second half of his round to remain even for the day. This enabled the sophomore to move eight spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 31st and finish 3-over for the tournament.
Braxton Watts picked up three birdies over his final 18 holes, giving him a team-high 11 over the course of the competition. For the day, Watts was 3-over, putting him at +4 overall and tied for 37th. Davis Johnson logged three birdies on Monday and was even over his final 12 holes, carding a 4-over 75 that left him in a tie for 40th.
Javier Barcos ended the tournament 9-over and sharing 55th, while Go Nakatsukasa tied for 62nd. As a team, the Utes’ 54-hole score was 18-over, placing them 13th.
UP NEXT
The Utes won’t have to wait long to get back on the course, as the schedule takes them to Bremerton, Wash., the site of the Husky Invitational on Sept. 18-19.
