STARKVILLE – After winning the 2023 Visit Knoxville Collegiate, Mississippi State’s Hunter Logan was named SEC Co-Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Logan shot an 11-under 199, which tied the fifth-lowest 54-hole total in school history and the best of his career. That propelled him to the first individual win of his collegiate career and continued a recent run of play that saw him win both the Dogwood Invitational and the Southeastern Amateur over the summer.
The Steens, Mississippi, native carded a career-high-tying 18 birdies over the three rounds and posted three consecutive birdies at least once on all three days of the tournament.
Logan’s 66.33 stroke average ranks second in the SEC this year, trailing only Auburn’s Jackson Koivun, who was also named Co-Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. Koivun finished second at the Mirabel Maui Jim Intercollegiate.
The recognition is the first of Logan’s career and State’s first since Austin Vukovits was honored in October of 2022. Garrett Endicott also won two SEC Freshman of the Week honors last year, most recently on April 5.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to SEC Match Play in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 25-27.
