Women's Golf Completes Day 1 of Badger Invitational


FITCHBURG, Wis. –  Rutgers women’s golf wrapped up play on day one of the Badger Invitational on Sunday afternoon. 

The Scarlet Knights sit in 14th place after the first round of competition at University Ridge Golf Course. Leigha Devine paced Rutgers on the opening day of the event, shooting a 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for 20th place.

Weather: Partly Cloudy, Temps in Mid-60’s, 10-15 mph winds

 
Devine opened her round on the 10th hole and shot a 1-over 37 on the back nine. She rolled in birdies on the second and fifth holes to post another 1-over 37 on the front nine. 

Lorena Rossettin posted a 4-over 76 to start off her second career event for RU. She birdied hole No. 1 and carded 13 birdies on the day. 

Rikke Nordvik birdied hole No. 11 and put in 12 pars in her opening round to shoot a 5-over 77 and sit in a tie for 56th. Cathi Graf put in a birdie on No. 6 and sits one stroke behind Nordvik after an opening round 6-over 78. Lucrezia Rossettin finished a stroke behind Graf wiht a 7-over 79 in her first round. 

Competing as an individual, freshman Krystal Li made her debut as a Scarlet Knight and carded a 6-over 78 in round one, including a birdie on No. 9. 

Round two is set for 10 a.m. ET start on Monday.
