Three Tigers in Top 10 at Chicago Highlands


The Missouri men’s golf team got off to a strong start at the Chicago Highlands Invitational on Monday, sitting in third of 14 schools as a team with play suspended due to darkness late in the second round. Additionally, three Mizzou golfers are currently in the top 10 in the individual standings.

With nine of the 14 schools completing the second round, the Tigers are third after the opening day at 20-under with all five of their golfers still on the course, ranging from one to three unfinished holes. Virginia leads with 36 completed holes at 27-under, while Wake Forest is second at 21-under. Duke and Houston follow Mizzou at 17-under.

Individually, three Tigers – Virgilio Paz, Jack Lundin and Charlie Crockett – find themselves in the top 10 after the opening day. Paz leads the way in third place at eight-under – carding a four-under 68 before and is four-under through 17 holes in the second round. Eagles on five and 18 got the sophomore off to a strong start in the first round before a clean second round without a bogey.

Lundin is in eighth place at six under, also posting a first-round 68 and currently two-under with three holes to play in the second. The senior eagled the seventh hole in the second round and overall, has seven birdies to just three bogeys on the day.

Crockett rounded out the trio of top-10 performers and is 10th overall at five under. Also eagling the fifth hole in the first round, Crockett added seven birdies with three holes to play in the second.

The Tigers will wrap up the second round at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday with the final round to follow later in the morning.
