MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s golf is headed to Northfield, Illinois where they will compete in the 2023 Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern at Sunset Ridge Country Club. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes between Monday, Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: Four Wisconsin individuals made their impact at the Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational, with Daniel Aas earning top honors at two-under par among over 100 golfers. Carter Pitcairn followed closely behind, grabbing second place at one-over par. Graham Moody also finished in the top-10, as he tied for seventh at six-over par. James Boustead shot an 11-over, finishing tied for 18th. Following his top finish, Aas was honored by the conference as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
2. The Course: For the first time ever, the Windon Memorial will be hosted by Sunset Ridge Country Club. The par 71, 6,754-yard course at Sunset Ridge was constructed 100 years ago in May of 1923. Less than a week after the property was acquired, owners had designer William Diddel on the ground. Sunset Ridge is known for its well-maintained fairways, greens, and scenic landscapes.
3. The Tournament: Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, Sept. 25 and 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Monday’s 36 holes will begin with a shotgun start, while tee times on Tuesday will be determined based on rankings from the first day of play.
4. The Field: Teams competing in the Windon Memorial include East Tennessee State, Indiana, Kent State, Little Rock, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Florida, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, South Florida, UC Davis and Wisconsin. Representing the Badgers are Cameron Huss, Jacob Beckman, Coalter Smith, Spencer Turtz and Carter Pitcairn.
