FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team continued their strong weekend at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Saturday, with the Rebels shooting 9-under par (279) to sit third overall with one round remaining in the tournament.
The Rebels found strong play throughout their entire lineup to remain just five strokes back from the tournament lead, as Ole Miss currently sits at a two-day score of 561 (-15) on the weekend. Ole Miss ended day two leading the field in par-3 scoring (-2) and second in total birdies (43).
Veteran, Andrea Lignell, led the way for the Rebels as she carded a round score of 4-under, 68, to earn the sole top spot on the individual leaderboard heading into Sunday at 10-under. Lignell currently ranks first in par-4 scoring (-7) and has tallied 13 birdies to tie teammate, Caitlyn Macnab, for most throughout the past two days.
The Gothenburg, Sweden, native is looking for her third individual championship with two strokes currently separating Lignell from second place.
Macnab, a junior transfer from TCU, follows close behind sinking seven birdies enroute to a second round score of 66 (-6). With an overall score of 136 (-8), the two-time All-American moves up into a tie for second place.
Macnab hopes to win her second collegiate individual title, and her first individual championship as a Rebel.
Natacha Host Husted would also finish the second round below par for the Rebels, carding a score of 70 (-2) to move up into a tie for 21st at 2-under par on the weekend. After a slow start to the day, the junior shot four birdies on her last five holes to cap off round two.
Senior Justine Fournand and freshman Sophie Linder capped off the lineup for the Rebels each marking a round score of 74 (+2). Fournand and Linder have combined for 10 birdies over the pair of rounds to help the Rebels sit in the top 5 overall after both days.
The final round of action from the Mason Rudolph Championship is set to kickoff tomorrow morning with Linder slated to start for the Rebels at 9:39 a.m. CT.
