Rod Myers Invitational Final Results
DURHAM, N.C. – Penn State men’s golf graduate student Patrick Sheehan collected his second top-10 finish and third top-15 placement of the fall season as the Nittany Lions wrapped up competition at Duke’s Rod Myers Invitational Monday.
Penn State turned in its best round in Monday’s third and final round, shooting an even 288. The Nittany Lions finished the 54-hole tournament at 13-over, 877, to place eighth in the 12-team field.
Sheehan carded a stellar 4-under, 68, in Monday’s final round to finish at 2-under, 214, and in a tie for eighth place. He has finished in the top 15 of all three of Penn State’s fall tournaments this season, two of which were top-10 placements.
Junior Jake Griffin followed closely behind, finishing in a tie for 14th place at 1-over, 217. Griffin carded an even 72 in Monday’s final round and collects his first top-15 finish of the 2023-24 season.
Graduate student Jimmy Meyers finished tied for 44th at 10-over, 226, following a 3-over, 75, final round Monday. Senior James Allen carded a 12-over, 228, to place tied for 51st after shooting a 1-over, 73, in the final round. Freshman Zach Smith wrapped up his collegiate debut in 63rd place at 15-over, 231.
The Nittany Lions return to action in two weeks at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday-Tuesday Oct. 8-9.
