Taehoon Song Snags Pac-12 Golfer Of The Week Honors

SAN FRANCISCO – After putting forth a career effort to lead Washington to the 2023 Husky Invitational title, senior Taehoon Song has been named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Week, announced Tuesday.

The South Korea native wreaked havoc on the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club, bringing home the first tournament win of his career at 15-under par, a career-low. The Huskies captured the team title at 40-under par, the sixth-lowest 54-hole team score in program-history.

Coming out firing en route to leading the tournament wire-to-wire, Song shot a career-low 63 in the opening round, the lowest round by a Husky since RJ Manke’s 63 at the 2021 Maui Jim Invitational.

The Anaheim Discovery Christian School product finished Day One of the Husky Invitational with a two-stroke lead before closing down the stretch to lock up the title on Tuesday. Song finished his second bogey-free round of the tournament with birdies on four of the final five holes, firing a 65 for seven-under on the day.

Song was one of three Huskies to finish in the top-5, joined by Petr Hruby (2nd, -12) and Finn Koelle (T4th, -7). Behind the strong, deep play from the Dawgs, Washington is ranked No. 3 in Golfweek’s Collegiate Rankings.
