FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 ranked Washington men’s golf team looks to continue its hot start to the season competing in another crowded pack of top competition, taking part in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational Oct. 2-4 at Blessings Golf Club.

“This is a tough golf course and the scores from when the NCAA championship was held here in 2019 have indicated that,” head coach Alan Murray said. “Really need to drive the ball well and the greens are heavily contoured. Trying to keep the ball on the correct side of the hole is important.”

The Huskies are coming off of a dominant performance in home territory at the Husky Invitational, with the Dawgs taking the team title and Taehoon Song capturing his first individual trophy at Gold Mountain Golf Club. UW will be looking to go low again down south.

The greens are a little softer so there will be some birdies but you have to hit a lot of quality shots to score well,” Murray said. It is not the kind of course you can fake it around.”

The Blessings Collegiate Invitational is a mixed men’s and women’s event, featuring 54 holes of stroke play. The tournament will award men’s and women’s individual medalists, men’s and women’s team winners, as well as a combined team winner for the school with the lowest combined score among men’s and women’s teams.

The field in the Natural State will feature several of the top teams in the southeast as well as a handful of top programs from across the country. UW will compete against host Arkansas, Clemson, Mississippi State, NC State, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Texas and South Carolina.

Blessings Golf Club will feature a par-72 course at 7,720 yards.

Washington will run out the same lineup that captured the Husky Invitational at 40-under par. The Husky lineup is as follows:

1. Petr Hruby
2. Taehoon Song
3. Bo Peng
4. Teddy Lin
5. Finn Koelle

“The guys looked good in practice today and they spent a lot of time on and around the greens which will be important this week,” Murray concluded. “It’s a unique format where all five guys will play together and our scores will be combined with our women’s team which makes it exciting and fun. And playing on TV is always fun too.”
