Women’s Golf Returns to Action at the Windy City Collegiate

DURHAM – The preseason 14th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will return to action for its second tournament of the 2023-24 campaign as the Blue Devils compete in the Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 2-3 at the 6,338-yard, par-72 Glen View Club in Golf, Ill.

Seeing action along with Duke will be another packed field of nationally ranked teams – Arizona (16), Arizona State (8), Auburn (9), Georgia (23), Illinois, Iowa State (28), Louisville, Oregon (6), Southern California (2), Texas (7), UCLA (18), Virginia (20) and Wake Forest (5).

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday to close action.  Tee times will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:36 a.m., (ET) on both Monday and Tuesday.

For the second straight event, Duke will field a lineup of senior Phoebe Brinker, senior Anne Chen, graduate student Emma McMyler, sophomore Andie Smith and freshman Katie Li.  Junior Rylie Heflin will also compete as an individual.

In the opening tournament of the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Brinker turned in an 8-under, 208, and tied for first overall for her second collegiate victory.  McMyler, who hails from San Antonio, Texas, was impressive in her Duke debut posting back-to-back scores of 1-under-par, 71, over the first 36 holes.  She became just the fourth Blue Devil newcomer to open their Duke career with two straight under-par rounds, joining the impressive company of Amanda Blumenherst, Leona Maguire and Jaravee Boonchant.

It marks the sixth appearance in the Windy City Collegiate Classic for Duke.  Last year, the Blue Devils posted a tied for fourth ledger, while Chen tied for fourth as an individual carding a final round of 3-under, 69.

Fans will be able to follow the action live on www.GolfStat with live scoring as well on the Duke social media accounts.
