Tech Golfers Tied for 11th at Ben Hogan Collegiate – Men's Golf — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Fort Worth, Texas – Christo Lamprecht fired rounds of 68-69 Monday and is tied for ninth place individually, while Georgia Tech is tied for 11th place in the team race after 36 holes at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational.

Lamprecht, a senior from George, South Africa, was one of only eight players Monday to break par in both rounds at the par-70 Shady Oaks Country Club, and his 3-under-par score of 137 is six strokes off the lead. Sophomore Hiroshi Tai (Singapore) is tied for 19th place at even-par 140 after carding rounds of 69-71 Monday.

Tech with a 10-over-par total of 570, finds itself 28 strokes off the lead entering Tuesday’s final round, which begins at 9 a.m. Eastern time off the first and 10th tees.

TECH LINEUP – In the morning round Monday, Lamprecht and Tai were the only Yellow Jackets to post subpar rounds as Tech counted a pair of 73s from senior Bartley Forrester (Gainesville, Ga.) and freshman Carson Kim (Yorba Lunda, Calif.) as the Jackets shot 3-over-par 283. In the afternoon, only Lamprecht came in under par while Tai shot 71, Forrester posted another 73 and sophomore Aidan Tran (Fresno. Calif.) added a 74 toward the Jackets’ 287 (+7) total.

TEAM LEADERBOARD – Only five teams are under par through 36 holes, but Oklahoma rose well above the field after carding a 15-under-par round of 265 in the afternoon. The 24th-ranked Sooners finished 36 holes at 18-under-par 542 and have a five-shot lead over No. 8 Arizona State (547, -13) entering the final round.

No. 7 Vanderbilt posted the best morning round at 271 (-9) and holds down third place at 10-under-par 550, while top-ranked North Carolina (555, -5) and No. 35 Oregon (557, -3) round out the top five in the strong 15-team field.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD – Drew Goodman paced the Sooner onslaught at Shady Oaks in the afternoon with a 7-under-par round of 63 and grabbed a three-stroke lead after 36 holes at 9-under-par 131. TCU’s Gustav Frimodt, the Tar Heels’ David Ford and Oklahoma’s Stephen Campbell, Jr., are tied for second at 6-under-par 134.

Georgia’s Ben VanWyk and Wake Forest’s Scotty Kennon are tied for fifth place at 135 (-5), while Vanderbilt teammates Gordon Sargent and Cole Sherwood are tied for seventh at 136 (-4). Lamprecht is in a group of six players tied for ninth at 137 (-3).
