GOLF, Ill. – The Illinois women’s golf team ended the Windy City Collegiate Classic in 15th at 21-over (885) after carding a final round total of 296 (+8) at the Glen View Club.
Isabel Sy collected her first Top 5 finish of the season after a bogey-free round of 68 to finish tied for fourth. Sy picked up her second eagle of the tournament on No. 6 and posted birdies on No. 9 and No. 17. The senior now has four career Top 5 finishes, including two in her last five events. The San Gabriel, Calif., native, completed her second round this morning as well, firing a 71 (-1), a round that included an eagle and three birdies.
Erica Lee finished tied for 41st after a third round 75 (+3). The freshman also completed her second round today, carding a 71 (-1). The Arcadia, Calif., native, picked up four birdies during her final 18 holes and totaled nine birdies during the tournament, matching her with Sy for the team lead.
Anna Ritter finished tied for 76th while carding rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4), Sophia Sulkar placed 79th after her rounds of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5) and Lexanne Halama finished 81st after rounds of 81 (+9) and 88 (+16).
UCLA took home the team title at 32-under (832) and Northwestern’s Lauryn Nguyen earned medalist honors at 11-under (205).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 9, as they host the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah, played at historic Medinah Country Club. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
