Cougars Finished Tied for 11th at Ron Moore Intercollegiate


HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Washington State moved up one spot over the final 18 holes after shooting a 4-over, 292, to finish in a tie for 11th at the 2023 Ron Moore Intercollegiate Sunday, played on the par-72, 6,648-yard University of Denver Golf Course.
 
WSU had rounds of 296-292-292 to finished the 54-hole event at +16, 880, tied for 11th with Tulane. California won the event with a score of -21, 843, one stroke ahead of host Denver.
 
Individually, junior Madelyn Gamble’s continued her solid play with an even-par 72 on the final day, giving her a three-round total of 4-under, 212, tied for 13th overall. For the tournament, Gamble led the field with 46 pars, while adding six birdies and just two bogeys.
 
Junior Sarah Skovgaard-Bils posted a 2-over, 74, in her final round, which included a pair of birdies, to complete the three-day event at +7, 224, tied for 51st overall. Freshman Alice Johansson had her best round of the tournament Sunday as she posted a 2-over, 74, giving her a 54-hole total of +8, 224, tied for 55th.
 
Graduate student Danielle Suh joined teammate Gamble with a even-par 72 on Sunday. Suh’s round included three birdies and marked a 5-stroke improvement over Saturday’s round. She finished in a tie for 67th at 11-over, 227. Also finishing in a tie for 67th was Cougar freshman Sara Piñeros after she finished with a closing round of 6-over, 78. Piñeros, who was 1-under on her Saturday round, finished at +11, 227.
 
The Cougars are next in action Oct. 22-23 when they head to Texas for the Jim West Challenge.
