Women's Golf Central: Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After a three-week hiatus, Tennessee women’s golf is back on the road as they travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to compete in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Monday, Oct. 9 and Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The Tar Heel Invitational has been played each year since 1976. This is the second consecutive season the Governors Club has played host to the event due to the renovations at UNC’s Finley Golf Club. Last season, Tennessee finished 4th of 14 teams, shooting 18-over (882).

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Play begins both days with shotgun starts at 9 a.m. Last time out, the Lady Vols finished 5th at the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan.

LADY VOLS LINEUP

Vanessa Gilly

Gilly’s senior season has gotten off to an excellent start, recording her best-ever score relative to par (8-under) at the Cougar Classic and her best-ever finish (T-4th) at the Mary Fossum Invitational. Her two top-10 finishes already matched her career total during her first three seasons. Last season, she shot 1-over at the Tar Heel Invitational to place 12th.

Manassanan Chotikabhukkana

Chotikabhukkana is coming off her first top-ten finish as a Lady Vol. Her consistency in East Lansing last month earned her a 2-over score and a ninth-place finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational.

Kayla Holden

Holden will compete again for the Lady Vols after a T-32nd place finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational, thanks to two-straight rounds of 1-over golf (73). The Port St. Lucie, Florida, native is T-2nd on the team with an average round score of 73.5

Angela Arora

Making her second consecutive appearance this season, Arora will look to build upon her score of 12-over logged in her season debut at the Mary Fossum Invitational, which netted her a 43rd place finish.

Bailey Davis

Davis returns to the starting five after competing as an individual in East Lansing. Her round-one score of 72 was the eighth best in the field. Last season, she placed 48th at the Tar Heel Invitational, shooting 12-over (228).

Martina Lopez-Lanchares

Competing as an individual, Lopez-Lanchares will be making her collegiate debut in Chapel Hill. The true freshman was crowned champion at the 2022 Sergio Garcia Junior Championship last year.
