TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s golf team will return to action this week when it travels to Medinah, Ill. to compete at the 2023 Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah hosted by the University of Illinois. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,166-yard Medinah Country Club.
The Lineup
- The Crimson Tide’s starting five for the event will include Sarah Edwards, Elina Sinz, Taylor Kehoe, Kaitlyn Schroeder and Mattie Frick
- Edwards, who has finished inside the top-20 in both events of the fall season, leads the team in overall stroke average (70.67), average vs. par (-1.33) and rounds of par or better (5)
- In her first two tournaments with the Tide, Sinz has a pair of top-25 finishes including placing 23rd at the Mason Rudolph Championship
- Kehoe has the highest finish for an Alabama golfer this Fall, finishing in a tie for 4th at the Boilermaker Classic
- The trio of Edwards, Sinz and Kehoe are the only three UA golfers to have all of their rounds played count towards the team score in each event
- Kaitlyn Schroeder and Mattie Frick will round out the Tide’s startling lineup in the event, respectively
Tournament Preview
- The teams will compete in a five-count-four, stroke-play format, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT Monday morning
- In addition to Alabama, the 15-team field includes tournament host University of Illinois, University of Georgia, University of Houston, LSU, Ole Miss, Northwestern, UNCW, Ohio State University, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Jose State, SMU, TCU and Texas Tech
