CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University men’s golf fired a 10-under-par final round to finish one-over-par and 12th in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Sunday afternoon – which included 11 Power Five Conference teams, and five who were ranked in the top 25.
The Tigers were led by Jonathan Nielsen (Copenhagen, Denmark/Birkerød Gymnasium) who finished six-under-par with his second round in the 60s this season. Nielsen carded a 66 which marks a season-best individual round for a Tiger this year and his best career round at Clemson.
Nielsen’s 66 came on the heels of back-to-back rounds of even par and his 210 score was good for an eighth-place finish individually. Nielsen was three-under on the back nine, where the Tigers began the day, and finished three-under on the front. He birdied seven holes and eagled the par five ninth to finish his round and the tournament. The seven birdies was a new season best.
His score of 210 was his best in a tournament at Clemson.
Kian Rose (Guateng, South Africa/St. John’s College) aided Nielsen’s efforts on Sunday and finished three-under for his final round. Rose finished two-under with three birdies on the back and birdied his last hole of the day on the front.
In addition to Nielsen and Rose, Andrew Swanson (Bluffton, S.C./May River) finished one-under-par, while Thomas Higgins (Roscommon, Ireland/CBS Roscommon) finished even. Calahan Keever (Greenville, S.C./Greenville) finished three-over-par on the day.
Clemson returns to the course on October 26 when it travels to Lahaina, Hawaii for the Ka’anapali Classic.
