The Gators held the lead after yesterday’s round two of 281 (-7) and finished with a 54-hole score of 864 (E) and won the field by 17 shots. Florida’s victory marked the first of the 2023-24 season and the 22nd all-time under head coach J.C. Deacon.
Trailing the lead by four shots entering today, Kress flipped it and won the event by four strokes. The All-SEC Freshman selection last season, he shot the lowest round of the afternoon with a 3-under 69. He made five birdies in round three for a total and tournament-leading 14.
Two Gators finishing runner-up and setting career best finishes were Jack Turner (competing an individual) and Tyler Wilkes. The duo finished with a 54-hole score of 1-under 215 at Woodmont Country Club.
Ian Gilligan tied her UF best finish in T8 for his third top-20 of the season in four events. Two strokes back was Luke Poulter in a tie for 12th. The redshirt-freshman has placed T11 and T12 in the last tour starts.
Rounding out the lineup was John DuBois in T33.
The Gators conclude the fall slate of the season at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 30-Nov. 1), which features the last four semifinalist teams for the NCAA Championships and featured on Golf Channel.
