Women’s Golf Moves Up Leaderboard on Day Two in Knoxville


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Ole Miss women’s golf got right back into the swing of things on Monday with the second round of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, as the Rebels were able to move into second place after carding a round of 285 (+1) on the day.
 
At the end of round two, the Rebels lead the field in par-5 scoring (-15) and rank second in par-3 scoring (+11). Additionally, Ole Miss has made the second-highest total birdies (29) in the field.
 
Justine Fournand continued her momentum from yesterday, making four birdies and 10 pars to post a score of 71 (E). The Erstein, France, native sits tied for seventh with an overall score of 140 (-2) as she looks for her second top 10 finish as a Rebel heading into the final day of play for the fall season. 
 
Joining Fournand in the top 10 is Caitlyn Macnab who also shot an even 71 to bring her two-day score to 569 (-1). With a spotless front nine in her second round, the junior leads the field in par-5 scoring (-5) and has made the second most birdies individually with nine over the last two days.
 
Freshman Sophie Linder made a late move up the leaderboard for the Rebels after knocking her first collegiate eagle in a par-4 hole. She enters the final day tied for 18th after posting scores of 72 (+1) in both rounds to go 2-over (144). 
 
Andrea Lignell saw the same success as Linder did over her round, with the senior sinking two birdies and 14 pars to put up a 71 (E) round two score. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native is tied for 18th with an overall score of 144 (+2).
 
Rounding out the lineup for the Rebels was Natacha Host Husted who shot another round of 76 (+5) on the second day in Knoxville. She is tied for 58th posting a 152 (+10) total score.
 
Competing as an individual, Elle Johnson will enter day three tied at 24th overall as she now holds a two-day score of 145 (+3).
 
Ole Miss will cap off the fall season tomorrow morning with the final round of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate at the Cherokee Country Club. The Rebels are set to tee off for their final 18 holes of the week with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. CT.
