OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women’s golf Sophie Linder was recognized as SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
The freshman stands alongside Manassanan Chotikabhukkana of Tennessee who earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors.
Linder’s recognition comes following her performance at the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, where Linder blazed the course en route to earning a tie for a career-high fourteenth place with a three-round score of 214 (+1).
The Carthage, Tennessee, native made her first collegiate eagle in the second round at the Cherokee Country Club. She also made eight birdies and 24 pars after shooting round scores of 72, 72 and 70 across three days.
At the Rebels final fall tournament of the season, the Rebels captured a second place finish with a three-round team score of 847 (-5). As a team, the Rebels ended their time in Knoxville making a total of 46 birdies on the weekend, while also leading the field in par-5 scoring (-21). The freshman also helped lead Ole Miss to its third top-two finish and fourth top-five finish of the fall.
Linder and the Rebels will now enter a three-month winter break prior to returning to action for the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico Feb 4-6. The tournament will be the first of five regular season tournaments on the Rebels’ spring season slate.
