Fouillet Tied for 7th Individually At Stanford
STANFORD – The California women’s golf team finished strong on the opening day of the Stanford Intercollegiate Friday, moving up several spots over the last few holes of round one to place seventh overall with a 4-over-par 288 team score.
Leading a trio of Golden Bears who ended the day in the top 10 individually was Constance Fouillet. The freshman shot 2-under 69, becoming the first Golden Bear to card three sub-70 scores this season. Fouillet will begin day two in a tie for seventh place individually in the 19-team field consisting of 100 golfers.
Currently tied for 10th place at 1-under 70 are sophomores Adora Liu and Anna Molloy. Liu’s consistent play has now seen her shoot 70 or better in six of her last seven rounds. Molloy – who is competing as an individual – tied the best round of her young Bear career.
Also competing as an individual was senior Mika Jin, who is tied for 32nd place at 1-over 72. Junior Kayly Noh and senior Rina Tatematsu shot 3-over and 4-over, respectively, to round out Cal’s scorers.
Each of the Bears’ 13 total birdies through 18 holes helped raise more funds for the tournament’s annual PlayforHer initiative to contribute towards breast cancer research and awareness.
