Ng Shoots 69 To Tie For 4th In World Amateur Team Championship


Sophomore Inez Ng (pronounced EE-ness Ung) made four birdies and shot a 3-under-par 69 Saturday in the final round to finish in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings in the 2023 World Amateur Team Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
 
Ng, who competed for Singapore, shot 72-70-69-68 for a 72-hole total of 9-under 279.
 
Megan Streicher, also a sophomore at UNC, shot even-par 72 in the fourth round for South Africa to tie for 81st at 13-over 301 (76-73-80-72).
 
Ng was one of five individuals in the 108-player field to shoot a pair of rounds in the 60s over the final two days.
 
Huai-Chien Hsu of Chinese Taipei was the medalist at 13-under 275.
 
South Korea won the team competition by four strokes at 22 under par. Singapore tied for 20th and South Africa was 27th out of 36 countries.
