CHARLESTON, S.C. – South Carolina sits T-3rd after 18 holes of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate. The Gamecocks opened with a 3-under 285 on Sunday thanks to a trio of red numbers from the team’s four counting scores.
Senior Rafe Reynolds, who is back in the lineup this week, led the way with a 3-under 69. The Greenville, S.C., native made five birdies and was bogey free until at pair of late bogeys at 16 and 18.
Redshirt sophomore transfer Frankie Harris shot 70 (-2) with four birdies. Junior Nathan Franks shot 71 (-1) with a pair of birdies on the back nine. The only bogey on his card came at the par-4 16th. Sophomore Zach Adams was the final counting score with a 75 (+3). He was bogey free at the turn with three birdies but shot 42 (+6) on the back nine.
Junior transfer Laurens Schulze-Doering and freshman Bo Carpenter, who is playing as individual this week, each shot 78 (+6).
The Gamecocks’ first player will be off at 8:45 a.m. (ET) in round two on Monday. Carolina will be paired with College of Charleston and ULM. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat again.
