Menante Earns Bronze Medal At Pan Am Games

Dylan Menante, a fifth-year senior at the University of North Carolina, shot a final-round 66 to finish third and earn a bronze medal in men’s golf at the 2023 Pan Am Games on Santiago, Chile.

Menante shot 66-69-70-66 to finish 17-under 271. Professional golfers Abraham Ancer of Mexico and Sebastian Muñoz of Columbia won the gold and silver medals, respectively. Ancer shot a 65 in the fourth round to win at 21-under 267, a stroke better than Muñoz, who shot 68 today.

Menante was one of two players representing the United States in the Pan Am Games. Stewart Hagestad, who teamed with Menante in the Walker Cup in September, finished 16th at 5 under par.

Menante, No. 6 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, made four birdies and an eagle 3 on the par-5 ninth today. The Carlsbad, Calif., native did not make a bogey in the final round.

He beat numerous professional golfers in the field to win the bronze medal, including Joaquin Niemann of Chile, Guillermo Pereira of Chile, Alejandro Tosti of Argentina and Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz.
