COLUMBUS, Ga. – USC women’s golf sophomore Catherine Park joins 20 of the best golfers in the country as she represents the Women of Troy on the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel Final Fall Watch List, the Haskins Foundation announced Thursday, Nov. 9.
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer: players, coaches and members of the college golf media vote on the winner. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer.
Park has produced some of the most successful outings for the Trojans, as she put together one win and three top-ten finishes in her four tournaments played. The sophomore’s one win came at a significant time, as she took home the title at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 20-22). That tournament at the time featured 11 top-25 teams and four of the top-10 teams in the country. Still, Park took home her first career win, at seven-under-par, as she led USC to its second team title of the fall season and claimed her first career Pac-12 Player of the Week Award (Oct. 24) for it. In her other outings, Park tied for second at the Leadership and Golf Invitational (Sept. 18-19) and wrapped up the fall season tied for sixth in the one-round stroke play portion of the East Lake Cup (Oct. 30). Altogether, the sophomore racked up a 69.9 round average, in the ten rounds played this fall season.
The Women of Troy return to the course for a second-straight match play event with the Texas A&M Aggies on Jan. 13 at the Farms C.C. in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
