Bulldogs Alumnus Pichaikool Wins Singha Thailand Masters

THAILAND – Mississippi State men’s golf alumnus Tanapat “Peng” Pichaikool earned his second career professional victory on Sunday, winning the 24th Singha Thailand Masters with a 23-under 265 across four rounds. The win allowed Pichaikool to jump 334 spots in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Pichaikool, a four-year letterwinner for MSU from 2016-2020, handled the course in Chiang Rai, Thailand, with ease finishing nine strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. After starting off with a 65 in the tournament’s opening round and sitting in a tie for second, Pichaikool would card a tournament-low 8-under 64 to the lead for good on the second day. Back-to-back 4-under 68’s in the penultimate and final round were enough to secure him the victory in one of the premier events on the All-Thailand Golf Tour.

Pichaikool was the only golfer in the field of more than 100 competitors to finish all four rounds under-par as well as the only person to have shot four rounds in the 60s.

The former SEC All-Freshman team golfer’s last tournament victory came at the 2019 Singha Championships in August of that year.

While at State, Pichaikool shot a career-best 63 that remains tied for the second-lowest round in program history, and he holds the school record for career stroke average (71.36), excluding current student-athletes. He earned 15 top-10 finishes as a Bulldog and was named to the 2017 PING All-Region Team.
