Illini Men’s Golf in the Pros | Winter Update

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – With the 2024 PGA Tour season teeing off this week at the The Sentry, it’s time to take a look at the former Fighting Illini preparing for the upcoming professional golf season. And 2024 is sure to be another exciting year for Illinois, with the Orange and Blue well represented at the sport’s highest levels.

PGA Tour

Thomas Detry and Nick Hardy will once again be mainstays on the PGA Tour in 2024, and will be joined by the newest Illini to reach the ranks of the PGA Tour, Adrien Dumont de Chassart.

Dumont de Chassart earned his tour card for 2024 after an impressive rise through the Korn Ferry Tour this past summer. His run began with a win in his debut event at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, and included an impressive six top-10 finishes in his 11 tournaments.

Dumont de Chassart joins a strong contingent of Fighting Illini on the PGA Tour that also includes D.A. Points, who has played 384 PGA events over his 19-year career. Detry has 42 events to his credit and enters his second full season on the PGA Tour after a highly successful stint on the DP World Tour. Hardy who has played in 70 PGA Tour events in his career and captured his first win last season at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Hardy and Detry each closed the 2023 season just outside of the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings, coming in at 52 and 55, respectively.

The PGA Tours schedule opens Jan. 4-7 at The Sentry, hosted at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui.

Since joining the senior tour Stricker has played 63 events without missing a cut and has played with incredible consistency to the tune of 17 victories, plus an additional 13 runner-up finishes.

Like the PGA Tour, the 2024 PGA Tour Champions season is also set to begin in Hawai’i, January 18-20, at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, an event which Stricker won in 2023.
