“We needed to respond better to our first round success,” said USC head coach Mark Hankins. “The golf course didn’t play much more difficult, but as a group, we unfortunately didn’t handle our expectations they way we should have. We recognize where we must improve, and we have another opportunity in a few days to continue our progress this season.”

The Trojans were led on Wednesday by Gavin Aurilia. After getting his round back to even on the fifth hole of the day, Aurilia battled on his second nine to finish in +2, 73 and a tie for 62nd at +10.

Antonio Safa brought his round back to even-par with an eagle on the 15th hole of the day, but couldn’t maintain that same score throughout the day and shot a +3, 74. His Wednesday round moved him to a final of +3 and tied for 32ndwith six other players.

Krando Nishiba, who had a steady round on Tuesday (E, 71), finished the tournament with a final round +5, 76 which pushed him back to a total of +5 in a tie for 42nd.

Sam Lape finished out his day with the same score as Nishiba at +5, 76. His final score slotted into a solo 65th finish at +12.

The Trojans look to build on this tournament for the remainder of the 2024 spring campaign. Up next, the Trojans will travel to Lihu’e, Hawaii for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, which will be played at Hokuala Golf Course beginning on Thursday, February 15th
