Virginia Men's Golf | UVA Moves Up to Sixth at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico. – The No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team improved on its first-round score by seven shots to move up to a tie for sixth place after the second round at the Puerto Rico Classic. The Cavaliers shot 13-under 275 on Monday at Grand Reserve Golf Club for a two-day total of 19-under 557. UVA is tied with Oklahoma on the leaderboard. Georgia holds the overall lead heading into Tuesday’s final round at 33-under 543.

Bryan Lee led the UVA charge by shooting 6-under 66. His day featured seven birdies and one bogey. Lee moved up to 20th place at 6-under 138. The Cavaliers’ overall leader is Ben James in 10th place. He shot 5-under 67 and is at 8-under par 136.

Chris Fosdick shot 1-under 71 and dropped back to 35th place at 4-under 140. Josh Duangmanee and Paul Chang are tied for 70th at 2-over 146. Duangmanee posted a second-round score of 71 while Chang shot 74. Deven Patel, competing as an individual is in 51st place at 2-under 142. He shot 1-under 71 for the second consecutive day.

Tuesday’s final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. UVA will be paired with Iowa and Ole Miss during the final 18 holes.
