Nebraska senior Michaela Vavrova captured her second consecutive Slovakian Women’s Golfer-of-the-Year award, when the Slovak Golf Association announced its annual honor recently.
The first Slovakian women’s golfer in Husker history, Vavrova helped Nebraska to NCAA Regional berths in 2021 and 2023, before posting a career-best 72.92 stroke average through 12 rounds during the fall of 2023. She opened the fall of 2023 with a career-best 205 (-11) to tie for fifth at the Sam Golden Invitational (Sept. 11-12).
Vavrova won her first Slovakian Golfer-of-the-Year honor in 2022 after producing Slovakia’s top individual performance at the Women’s Amateur Team Championships in late August of 2022. She was a two-time Slovakian U18 Junior Champion and has been a member of the Slovak Elite National Team since 2021.
