Huskers Start Early at The Gator – University of Nebraska

The Nebraska men’s golf team travels south to compete at The Gator in Gainesville, Fla., Feb. 16-17.

The 16-team event, which is hosted by the University of Florida on the 6,701-yard, par-70 layout of the Mark Bostick Golf Course, begins Friday after the tournament was pushed up one day because of potential weather later in the weekend.

The teams will take to the course with a 6:50 a.m. shotgun start on Friday, Feb. 16 for two rounds, before closing with a final round on Saturday.

Top teams in the field include No. 23 Florida, No. 26 North Florida and No. 36 South Florida, along with UCF, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Kentucky, Penn State, West Virginia, Liberty, Augusta and Navy. 

Nebraska is coming off a 10th-place finish at the 14-team Battle at Briar’s Creek in South Carolina to open the spring (Feb. 5-6).

Junior transfer Hamish Murray heads the Husker lineup after a top-20 performance at Briar’s Creek. Senior Evan Meyers will play out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup after matching Murray in a tie for 19th in South Carolina. 

Junior Harry Crockett, freshman Quinn Yost and senior Gentry Scheve round out the Husker contingent in Florida.
