Kaua’i, Hawai’i — On the second day of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Friday (Feb. 16) at the Ocean Course Hokuala in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Hawai’i, the USC men’s golf team wrapped up the day with a total of 20-over (73+75+80+80=308). The Trojans currently have a tournament total of 30-over and are still slotted in solo 20th.
After leading after yesterday’s round, Long Beach State fell back into third place, while No. 17 ranked Arizona moved into the top spot at 9-under. The Wildcats sit three shots in front of second place Grand Canyon. On the second day of the tournament, no teams finished under-par.
Antonio Safa finished the day with a team best 1-over, 73. Starting the day on the 12th hole, Safa made an early birdie and moved in between red figures all day, making 4 birdies in total. After a round of 72 yesterday, Safa currently sits at 1-over for the tournament and is in a tie for 31st.
After making birdie and eagle on 2nd and 4th holes, Nicolas Dominguez dropped a couple shots to finish in a 3-over, 75. Dominguez is at a tournament total of 3-over, tied for 57th.
Sam Lape and Krando Nishiba had tying scores in the second round. They both made a pair of birdies and finished with a final score of 8-over, 80. Lape currently sits at 10-over for the tournament in a tie for 98th, and Nishiba is tied for 116th at a total of 16-over.
Gavin Aurilia finished his round at 9-over, 81. He’s slotted in 122nd through two rounds at 21-over.
The Trojans return to the course tomorrow morning (Saturday, Feb. 17) for the final day of competition at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
