Hruby Runner Up, Huskies Fourth At The Prestige At PGA West

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Behind a strong back nine on Wednesday, No. 5 Washington climbed one spot at The Prestige at PGA West’s Norman Course, finishing -6 on the day and -15 on the weekend to take fourth.
 
“Overall it was a good day for us,” head coach Alan Murray said. “We got off to a slow start but the guys did a great job of getting better as the day went on. We have had a really busy schedule recently and we could sense a little tiredness this week if anything but the guys did a great job of running through the finish line and moving up the leaderboard on the final day.”
 
For the third consecutive tournament, a Husky finished runner up. This time it was Petr Hruby, who capped a rock solid week with a 68, his third sub-70 round of the tournament. The Czech Republic international carded an 11-under 202 to finish two shots off the lead.
 
“It was a really good week for Petr,” Murray said. “He played solid without being close to his best and he still found a way to be in contention. This week was a testament to how well he is managing himself and his game. His game continues to grow and he is definitely one of the best in college golf right now in my opinion.”
 
The low round of the day for the Dawgs went to Taehoon Song, who bested Hruby by a single shot at 67. The senior finished the tournament three shots under par, tying for 26^th. Just ahead of Song was Teddy Lin, carding a -4 for the tournament to slot in at a tie for 17^th.
 
“It was an awesome round from Taehoon today and he was really patient this week despite his game not exactly being where he wanted it,” Murray remarked. “He is playing with a lot of maturity right now and he again shoots his best score in the final round. That is a very nice habit he has.
 
“Solid week from Teddy again and he turned his round to the positive after a slow start. It was nice to see some birdies on his back 9. If he can come out of the traps faster, he has the chance to shoot in the mid 60s one of these days but he is a solid contributor for us as always.”
